The Kreter Foundation gifts residents of the Herberge Plus Organisation in Lüneberg, Germany 110 care packages of food and personal care items. The organisation provides housing shelter and support to those fragilised by poverty, social isolation and other mental challenges.

Thorben Peters, manager of the shelter alongside his team received with great pleasure the gift boxes on behalf of the organisation from Silke Kreter, Vice President of the privately founded Kreter Foundation.

"To offer meaningful gifts that bring joy were important to us at the Foundation. We asked ourselves, what good can we do for others at Christmas?" Silke Kreter shares her sentiments behind the donation. "Our desire was truly to fill the packages with useful items that those in need can practically use as well as delicacies to enjoy," she further explains.

Silke Kreter personally contacted Thorben Peters to enquire about how best the Foundation could offer service. The question was warmly received and his answer promptly followed. Ideas were shared and the final content of the gift boxes was decided. Each individual package weighed almost 3 KG. It contained 14 items including: warm socks, a comb, hygiene and food products such as cookies; marzipan, clementines and the traditional small German sausages in a glass jar. "We carefully packed each gift box together with friends and neighbours. The package was then inscribed with a personal hand written message, Silke Kreter explains.

Thorben Peters, Melina Meyer, and Dirk Meinecke from the organisation were truly delighted for their residents. "A donation of this magnitude is not something that we are used to receiving, so this offer is extra special." Thorben Peters. He adds, "It gives us great joy to know that in these times, those who are facing challenge in their lives are thought of, it is a form of acknowledgement and appreciation." Silke Kreter from the Kreter Foundation, "We sincerely hope that maybe our gesture will inspire others to act and share a little joy with initiatives all throughout the year."
